Superintendent's Message

Welcome to 51¶¯Âþs, a community of learners that fosters excellence in education. With over 70 cultures represented in our schools, our faculty, staff, Board of Education, parents, and students proudly embrace our city's diversity and celebrate the strength that it gives us.
"The mission of the 51¶¯Âþ School District, in an open and reciprocal community partnership, is to provide all students with a quality education to develop the skills necessary to become literate, life-long learners who are responsible and productive citizens contributing to a democratic society in an ever-changing world."
We accomplish our mission by offering a wide range of quality instructional and extra-curricular opportunities to all students. From elementary school through high school, we provide our students with a wide range of programs that encourage critical thinking, cultivate an appreciation for the arts, build sportsmanship and character, and develop workplace skills. Furthermore, we recognize the necessity to continually assess and improve our K-12 systems that support student achievement. In doing so, we regularly evaluate and address our district's needs in terms of curriculum and instruction, school safety, communications, school culture and climate, and technology.
Our district serves almost 11,000 students and tries to identify and nurture each student's personal talent. Our educational community continuously brings out the best in one another. Working collectively, our students excel in the classroom, on the playing field, in the concert halls, on the debate floor, on stage, from the arts to the sciences. The professionalism of our outstanding educators, along with unwavering parental and community support, equips our students with a solid foundation for success.
Again, I welcome you to our school district and invite you to explore the exceptional programs that we offer. We are all connected, and we are "One 51¶¯Âþ."
Sincerely,
Dr. Robertozzi
